Chris Reinders Folmer is assistant professor at the Department of Jurisprudence at Amsterdam Law School, University of Amsterdam. His background is in social and economic psychology (PhD 2008, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam). His research integrates psychological, legal and economic perspectives to empirically test the assumptions that underlie legal practice and policy making, identify possible discrepancies, and develop alternatives informed by these perspectives. Key research topics include compliance, cooperation, lay intuitions about behavior, and remedies in both legal and everyday dispute resolution (principally the role of apologies).
